The upcoming Sims game as a cross-platform project named “Project Rene”
Eight years have passed since EA released The Sims 4. Despite the game going free-to-play, there is still much anticipation regarding the future of the series. In a recent showcase, the publisher and developer Maxis unveiled the next installment in the franchise and provided a glimpse of what lies ahead.
### Project Rene: A New Era for The Sims
The upcoming Sims game, currently referred to as Project Rene, represents Maxis’ renewed commitment to the franchise’s bright future. Although still in the early stages of development, Project Rene promises more in-depth customization options. Players will have the ability to alter patterns, colors, and shapes of various objects, offering greater flexibility in decorating their virtual spaces.
### Cross-Platform Experience and Community Interaction
Project Rene will support both solo and multiplayer modes, allowing players to share furniture sets with friends. Additionally, the game will feature cross-platform support with cross-progression, enabling seamless gameplay across different devices. This approach suggests that Project Rene may adopt a free-to-play model in the future.

Notably, The Sims FreePlay will introduce more inclusive features, such as unrestricted access to hairstyles and accessories for all genders. The Sims Mobile will also receive new content, like balconies in the build and buy catalog, to enhance players’ gaming experiences.
