Steam is introducing a new feature called Steam Families, designed to enhance the gaming experience for clans. This collection of game-sharing and monitoring features is currently available in beta, replacing Steam Family Sharing and Steam Family View while incorporating some of their existing features with updates.

Family Library and Sharing

Each member of a Steam Family will have access to a “family library” in their games list, where they can play shareable games. While ownership remains with the purchaser, newly purchased titles will be added to the list for all members to enjoy. Members can play each other’s games even when one is online, save progress, and unlock achievements.

Parental Controls and Approval

Up to five family members can be invited to join a Steam Family account, with roles designated as parent or child. Adults have the ability to manage the account, set playtime limits, view playtime reports, select permitted games for children, and regulate access to the Steam Store and chats. Additionally, children can request adult approval for game purchases, allowing parents to manage requests through email or phone.
