Nintendo confirms: Legend of Zelda movie is happening in live-action!

Rumors have been swirling for years, but Nintendo just dropped a bombshell: a live-action film based on The Legend of Zelda is officially in the works, with Wes Ball at the helm. You might know Ball from his work on the Maze Runner series. And get this – the film is being co-financed by Nintendo and Sony Pictures Entertainment, the same folks behind PlayStation. While Nintendo is putting up more than half the funds, Sony will handle distribution.
In a tweet, Shigeru Miyamoto confirmed that development is underway, with Nintendo playing a major role. He cautions that it’ll be a while before we see the finished product, but urges fans to stay excited. Remember those old rumors about a Zelda show on Netflix back in 2015? That fizzled out, but with the success of The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Nintendo seems ready to take another shot at Hollywood. Here’s hoping they do the franchise justice on the big screen!
