Since its debut at the 2021 Game Awards, Dune: Spice Wars has been shaping up to be one of the most exciting video game adaptations of Frank Herbert’s sci-fi series in a while. If you’ve been dabbling in the Steam early access version, get ready to duke it out over Arrakis with your buddies.

Developer Shiro Games recently rolled out a multiplayer update for Spice Wars, allowing you and three others to engage in 2v2 battles or all-out free-for-alls. Don’t have enough pals to play with? No worries, the game will throw in some AI opponents to keep things interesting.

The multiplayer feature steals the spotlight in this latest update, but there’s more to it than meets the eye. Shiro has spiced up the game with new in-game events, Landsraad resolutions, additional regions for map variety, and revamped building visuals.

If you haven’t dipped your toes into Spice Wars yet, now’s your chance as it’s currently 20 percent off on Steam. Having already clocked in 30 hours of gameplay since its early access launch in April, I can confidently say that Shiro has nailed the essence of the novels in this immersive experience.
