“Popular RPG ‘Dragon’s Dogma’ to Receive Long-Awaited Sequel”

Dragon’s Dogma made its debut in 2012 without making a huge impact in the fantasy RPG world, but it slowly built a dedicated fan base. Capcom recently announced during a livestream celebrating the original’s 10th anniversary that a sequel, titled Dragon’s Dogma II, is in the works. However, details about the game are scarce at the moment, with only the name and logo being revealed by game director Hideaki Itsuno. It’s unlikely that the sequel will be released in the near future.
Despite its flaws such as an awkward interface and mediocre open-world experience, the first game managed to win over players with its intriguing story, enjoyable combat, and extensive customization options. The game was popular enough to receive an expansion (Dark Arisen), a Japan-exclusive online RPG (Dragon’s Dogma Online), and even a Netflix anime series.
It is expected that Dragon’s Dogma II will be developed for modern consoles like the PS5 and Xbox Series X. However, with the gaming landscape having evolved significantly in the past decade, the sequel will face tough competition from other action RPGs like Elden Ring. This presents an opportunity for Capcom to address the original game’s shortcomings and introduce new gameplay mechanics.
