So, Amazon has finally sealed the deal with One Medical for a cool $3.9 billion. This means that Amazon now has a primary healthcare provider under its belt, offering both in-person and virtual treatment as well as lab tests. And hey, if you’re thinking of signing up with One Medical, now might be the time as they’re offering a sweet $55 discount on their one-year membership. Not bad, right?

FTC on the Scene

Just as the ink dried on the contract, the Federal Trade Commission chimed in to say they won’t be putting up a fight against the acquisition. But hold your horses, they’re not done yet. The FTC is still sniffing around to see if there are any fishy business practices or privacy concerns lurking in the shadows. It looks like Amazon might have to tread carefully in this new territory.

Amazon’s Healthcare Odyssey

Amazon has been dipping its toes in the healthcare waters for a while now. From acquiring PillPack to launching an in-house pharmacy service and even developing a custom Alexa for healthcare, they’ve been busy bees. And now, with One Medical in their corner, Amazon can pretty much handle everything from your run-of-the-mill doctor’s appointments to filling prescriptions. Talk about one-stop shopping for your health needs!
