Eight years after its launch, No Man’s Sky introduces computer-generated space stations that vary in design with each encounter

No Man’s Sky Receives Orbital Update with Major Enhancements
The latest update for No Man’s Sky, called the “Orbital” update, is set to be released by developer Hello Games on Wednesday. This update introduces procedurally generated space stations, a ship editor, and a Guild system to the almost eight-year-old space exploration simulation game.
Procedurally Generated Space Stations
One of the key features of the Orbital update is the addition of procedurally generated space stations, which will now be unique and different every time players encounter them. Using game engine upgrades, these space stations will feature vast interior and exterior spaces with improved reflection and metallic surfaces. Additionally, the interiors of these stations will offer new shops, gameplay elements, and activities, each uniquely customized based on the virtual inhabitants’ system, race, and locale.
Ship Editor and Guild System
Inside the newly created space stations, players will find the new ship editor, allowing them to customize their ships according to their preferences. Ship customization was previously limited to maintain the game’s focus on exploration, requiring players to collect, trade, and salvage parts to build their ideal ship. Furthermore, the updated Guild system introduces factions as a more prominent aspect of the gameplay, offering new Guild envoys on space stations where players can join, receive supplies and commodities, and donate to improve their status within the group.
Improved Fleet Management
The Orbital update also enhances fleet management by allowing players to send their frigate fleet on away missions. In case of trouble, players can intervene and rescue their fleet, adding a new level of excitement to the gameplay experience. These improvements, along with engine enhancements, a UI refresh, and other additional features, are included in the Orbital update, available for all No Man’s Sky owners starting today.
