Opinion: Until Dawn remake arrives on PS5 and PC on October 4

Until Dawn, a beloved PlayStation 4 exclusive, is receiving a fresh update. The horror game has been rebuilt from the ground up in Unreal Engine 5 and is set to be released on October 4 for PlayStation 5 and PC.

The studio behind the remake, Ballistic Moon, focused on enhancing the game’s cinematic and intimate feel. With updated character models, environments, visual effects, and animations, the switch to UE5 allowed for improved rendering and ray-tracing capabilities. Expect more realistic death scenes and a revamped injury mask system.

The gameplay will now feature a third-person perspective with a controllable camera, adding more collectibles and tweaking the prologue for better pacing. Ballistic Moon is also introducing accessibility and usability settings to ensure a wider audience can enjoy the revamped Until Dawn.
