Apple making it easier for EU users to switch to Android and remove Safari

The European Union’s Digital Markets Act (DMA) brings changes to Apple’s operations, with the introduction of a browser choice screen for EU users.
Apple’s Compliance Report and Data Portability Efforts
Apple has released a Compliance Report detailing the necessary changes, including data portability enhancements for users to transfer data to non-Apple devices. These changes are expected to be implemented by Fall 2025 for mobile operating systems and by the end of 2024 or early 2025 for browser switches.
Concerns Raised by Apple
Despite these efforts, Apple has expressed concerns about potential risks, such as malware, fraud, scams, illicit content, and privacy threats, as a result of the DMA implementation. The company also worries about its ability to detect and address malicious apps on iOS and support users affected by issues with apps downloaded outside of the App Store.
